A rich, spiced rum drink with falernum, bitters and a deep molasses-like finish.


Corn ’n’ Oil is a simple Barbados classic built around rum and falernum. It is bold, aromatic and easy to make, with enough spice and sweetness to soften the rum without hiding it.

Corn 'n' Oil

Rum, falernum and bitters.


Glassware

Rocks glass.


Garnish

Lime wedge.

Optional: lime wheel.


Ingredients

60ml aged rum or black rum

2 dashes aromatic bitters, such as Angostura

Optional: 5ml Lime Cocktail Juice


Recipe

Prepare your glass and garnish first.

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.

Shake hard until chilled.

Fine strain into the prepared glass.

Garnish with a lemon twist.


Notes

Traditionally, this drink is often made with a rich Barbados-style rum and falernum.

The lime is optional, but useful if you want a brighter, fresher version.
