Updated: May 8

A tall, bright tequila highball with grapefruit, agave and soda.

The Paloma is one of the most refreshing tequila cocktails around. It is lighter than a Margarita, easy to drink, and perfect when you want something citrusy, bubbly and a little salty.

Paloma

Tequila, grapefruit, lime, agave and soda.

Glassware

Collins glass or tall glass with a salt rim.

Garnish

Grapefruit wedge.

Ingredients

50ml Tequila

90ml Grapefruit Soda

Recipe

Prepare your glass and garnish first.

Moisten the outside edge of the glass with a grapefruit wedge, then gently roll that section through salt.

Fill the glass with fresh ice.

Add the tequila, Lime Cocktail Juice and Agave Syrup to a shaker with ice.

Shake hard until chilled.

Fine strain into the prepared glass.

Top with grapefruit soda.

Gently stir to combine.

Garnish with a grapefruit wedge.

Notes

Use a good-quality grapefruit soda where possible.

For a drier, sharper Paloma, reduce the Agave Syrup to 10ml.

For a softer, fruitier version, build with 60ml fresh grapefruit juice and 60ml soda water instead of grapefruit soda.
